Description
The Direct Coombs Test (DCT) identifies antibodies bound to the surface of red blood cells, commonly ordered for diagnosing hemolytic anemia. A positive result suggests immune-related RBC destruction, which may occur due to autoimmune disorders, drug reactions, or hemolytic disease of the newborn. This test aids in identifying underlying causes of unexplained anemia.
